Project Management – Coordinated and planned activities, and maintained schedules and timelines of a large team from development, test, production support, and client departments for a. complex upgrade to encrypt communication between multiple systems. Led weekly status calls with representatives from all stakeholder groups.

Configuration Management – Installed, configured, upgraded and administered Telelogic CM SW and repositories for all CM Synergy projects in the department. Trained and provided guidance to developers, build managers, and client UAT users. Created new projects, releases and baselines. Eliminated task/object conflicts. Created custom work-flow implementations of Change Synergy for CR management. Ported projects from CM Synergy to in-house CVS-based system. Created a website to store the CM documents and end-user support information.

Build/Release Management and System V Packaging – created build scripts, System V packaging scripts; planned, coordinated and deployed new releases to test and production environments. Created release notes and documents. In addition to performing this work in an AIX environment, also built and deployed BlackBerry applications built in the Dexterra RDS (Eclipse) environment. Created a prototype automated build/release/System V packaging system, using Perl and C, that is entirely web-based and enables Project Managers to execute builds.

Development – Led, coordinated and managed the physical and logical database design of an Oracle data migration project (OPERA) for Outside Plant Engineering. Developed and enhanced Java EJB classes, supported a Java and Oracle development team, and provided 2nd tier field support to Engineering department (NEWS/VENUE) end-users. Developed Java/JSP projects, some from inception and others handed off to me from previous developers. Ported a Java application from JBuilder to a UNIX environment after upgrading the LDAP authentication module. Ported a SQL Server (on NT) application to new hardware and enhanced and maintained the software to such client satisfaction that a significant upgrade project was funded (the “Sell One More” workforce sales application). Created web server access log analysis reports using ksh and excel; created and maintained a website to post the reports.

Technical Lead - Designed and developed a prototype for a “Damage Claims” system using Oracle stored procedures. Created business process flows, use cases, requirements and specifications based on meetings with end-users including Operations and Construction management, Technician workforce, Finance, and other departments. A successful production trial led to client funding of the full project. Led a team of vendors in the production implementation of a Java/JSP/DB2 based application. Led the Mobile Workforce Systems development lab resource monitoring improvement project; aided and facilitated communication between the development and system administration teams, aiding the teams to reach consensus on methods and techniques. Results achieved were significantly reduced outages on the monitored systems.

Web Application Servers – Installed, configured and maintained WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat and Research in Motion (proprietary) application servers in Solaris and Windows environments.

Solaris Systems Administration – support for NFS, automounter, backup systems, and end-user configuration support. Responsible for all network license management; and all shared network software (development tools, etc.) installations and upgrades. Managed commercial and public domain UNIX software; and provided end-user software support.

Development - Enhanced and maintained Pro*C/X-Windows/Motif based applications, including modifying the Purchase Order and Timesheet systems to meet ISO 9001 Quality System specifications. Created requirements, and designed and developed Lotus Notes work-flow applications for employee data; online phone list and LAN service request databases and applications.

Systems Analysis and Design - Re-engineered a Network Services Test Management application used by the Bell Atlantic test laboratories managers, clients and testers in the Systems Integration & Testing organization.

Quality System – ISO 9001 internal auditor for Science & Technology during the company’s accreditation process, and afterwards to monitor compliance with the Quality System. Audited projects in NYNEX and Bell Atlantic Science & Technology’s Technology organization to monitor adherence to the Software Quality System; created audit reports, performed root cause analysis studies and assisted project teams in developing corrective action plans.

1985 - 1994 Sr. Programmer, Sr. Systems Analyst NYNEX Service Company New York, NY

Development – Designed, coded, developed, maintained minicomputer applications in C/UNIX environments. Work included all phases of the lifecycle, from Project Initiation Request, through HW selection, installation, and troubleshooting. Key projects worked on were management systems for managing the Technician Workforce, Technician hand-held computer interface, a voice response system for Coin phones maintenance and Corporate Security subpoena and security incident reporting systems; and multiplexer device driver modifications to a minicomputer operations center monitoring system.

Team Leadership – Led a development team to develop the first in-house developed hand-held computer interface, for work-force technicians to receive and status work orders. The work involved selecting a hardware vendor to create custom hardware, interfacing with the vendor and subcontractors to define all specification, including the data communications protocols, and writing all coding specifications for other developers, in addition to developing a large part of the server code.

Software Lifecycle – Represented the Minicomputer Development Department in its software development process efforts to evaluate tools and techniques. As a member of the New York Case User’s Group attended meetings and reported back to my management on principles and techniques learned.
